Financing Agreement Title: Monrovia Consolidation of Electricity Transmission and Distribution
Over All Objective: The project aims at increasing access to electricity in Monrovia and its environs by the reinforcement of a 66kv transmission network and the extension of distribution network Over Head Lines (OHL) (22 & 0.4kv) in the city of Monrovia. The Financing Agreement was signed in February 2016.

Description of the project: The objective of the project is to contribute to the reduction of poverty in Monrovia by improving the environmental and socio-economic conditions of the people of Liberia, in line with the GoL’s objective to increase access to renewable energy services and affordable power for community and economic transformation. The project ends 2020. This distribution network will work outside the substations and it will connect 38,000 small households in Monrovia and its environs, thus contributing to the increase of energy efficiency in the national electricity grid. Communities expected to be connected through the project include Peace Island area, TB Annex (from the Congo Town back road to ELWA Junction, GSA Road, Zubah Town, Rehab Road, SKD Sports Complex (Around), Rock Crusher, LBS, and behind the German Embassy in Congo Town among other areas.
